Dr. Scott Spitzer is an Associate Professor of Political Science. His research interests address the role of race in American political development. His work focuses on the U.S. presidency, federal welfare policymaking, and racial politics. In addition, Dr. Spitzer has worked as a research fellow at the Columbia University Center for Alcohol and Substance Abuse; at the Columbia Center for Urban Policy; and as an evaluator of federal drug abuse prevention programs at the John Jay School for Criminal Justice in New York City. He has also worked as a consultant for Children and Family Futures in Orange County, CA. From 1995 – 2000, Spitzer was the teaching assistant for New York City former Mayor David N. Dinkins.
