Social Science Research Center

The Social Science Research Center was established in 1987 to provide research services to campus and community organizations and research support to CSUF faculty and staff. The Center assists non-profit and tax-supported agencies and organizations to conduct methodologically sound studies to answer policy-relevant research questions. As a university-based center, the SSRC is fundamentally concerned with providing high-quality research services utilizing state-of-the-art hardware, software and methodology. The SSRC operates a 24 station Computer Assisted Telephone Interviewing (CATI) survey research lab and is capable of conducting telephone surveys in multiple languages. CATI software facilitates call management to optimize response rates, and simplifies navigation through branching sequences in complex questionnaires. Extensive training and consistent monitoring of interviews further ensures the quality of data. The SSRC is directed by Laura Gil-Trejo, who has been with the center since 2005. S he is an expert quantitative analyst with applied research and program evaluation experience. Her scholarly interests include adolescent development, motivation, and academic persistence among under-represented students. Ms. Gil-Trejo's most recent education was received at the University of California Irvine in the Department of Psychology and Social Behavior. She received her Master's in Public Health from San Diego State University and her Master's in Social Ecology from UC Irvine.
